Introducing,

Liz:

“What I love about dancing is how a dancer has to make difficult movements look effortless, and how natural these movements feel to me now. I love how dance has changed my life and influenced it to be healthier and more mindful of my body and health than without it. Also I love having an outlet for creative and emotional expression.”

When did you start dancing?

I took a tap class when I was in grade 3 (even got a solo!), a few weeks of ballroom when I was 16… but I finally seriously pursued dance when I was 19, starting with ballet. I’d always wanted to do dance seriously, but didn’t have the opportunity until I was an adult.

Favourite past times/other hobbies

Photography, writing, sewing, and learning languages.

Fun/interesting fact about me

I think it’s funny that outside of dance classes and performances, I don’t like being the center of attention or attracting attention. I’m very introverted, and shy about talking to people.

Goals and aspirations

To travel a lot, quit my day job and be an freelance/creative person full time.

How I first heard about Prairie Diva dance classes

I saw a poster advertisement, and burlesque style dance was something I always wanted to try.

What I like about burlesque fusion dance classes

They’ve changed my life, definitely. It started with moving in a more free and sexy way that I’d never tried before. Then feeling more confident when dancing at the bar on nights out. Then performing small dances in class and at performances the classes have opportunities to be part of. Also auditioning for dance opportunities, and then choreographing my own dances. That can all be summed up with the CONFIDENCE I gained from these classes. 🙂

Making friends & connections

I’ve made friends through the classes and I’m glad I have. 🙂

What I’m most looking forward to with Prairie Diva’s classes

The classes always make me feel awesome. I always leave feeling more upbeat than I did at the start of class, and it gives me a reminder that I’m badass and sexy. Also, learning more combinations and dances, and improving on what I already know.
