Introducing

Neelum:

“I love the way I feel when I’m dancing. It’s a great way to get all my energy out and I have found it to be very therapeutic.”

When did you start dancing?

My first dance classes were with Prairie Diva back in 2016. I had always been drawn to the idea of dance but I thought that was something you had to start as a child. After seeing posters for burlesque classes all over my University Campus, I decided to just go for it!

Favourite past times/other hobbies

My favourite thing in the world is burlesque! I am also a huge movie buff, I love circuses and blood lol.

My day job

Right now I am working in a bakery. I have taken a year off of school to focus more on burlesque!

Fun/interesting fact about me

I can wiggle my ears!

Goals and aspirations

Oh gosh, lots of things. I want to join a circus, own a burlesque club, and perform burlesque around the world.

How I first heard about Prairie Diva dance classes

I heard of Prairie Diva classes through posters at U of W. Since burlesque was the only thing I could talk about, my friends convinced me to go to shut me up!

What I like about Prairie Diva dance classes

It gives me a good confidence boost! It has also helped me a lot with my solo performing.

Making friends & connections

I have befriended lots of ladies through Prairie Diva classes! I have met extremely talented drag performers, actors and other fellow burlesque soloists. (Brielle Dorais-Fleming, Kelsey Funke and Char Danae). All of which I have worked with since!

What I’m most looking forward to with Prairie Diva’s classes

Seeing myself improve more and more! And making more friends!

“I just want to thank Meagan for teaching me so much. I really don’t know where I would be without her and the entire burlesque community is so grateful. We love you, Meagan!”
