Perform with us at our next showcase at Winnipeg’s newest Speakeasy – The Basement!

Burlesque Fusion focuses on the aspects of seduction and sensual movements, with no strip-tease and adds aspects of jazz & hip-hop dance set to upbeat and sultry pop music. Prairie Diva’s goal is to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and feel confident in their own skin. Burlesque Fusion is open to all levels, shapes and sizes of adults and is a safe space to express yourself and strut it down the dance floor!

*Beginner/Intermediate – No previous dance experience is necessary. Class is adapted to the level of the group. Medium-high intensity.

Sundays (July 14- August 25)

6:15 – 7:45PM

*No class on August 4

6-Week Session (1.5 HOUR CLASSES)

Location: Ted Motyka Dance Studio (460 Main St., Winnipeg, MB)

*Must be available to perform on BOTH show nights*

Friday, Sept. 6 & Saturday, Sept. 7

Venue: The Basement (3740 Portage Ave.)
Showtimes – 8:30PM (Doors at 7:00PM)
Tech Rehearsal – Thursday, Sept. 5 – 8:00PM

** Learn and perfect 1 Burlesque Fusion dance routine from start to finish in 6-Weeks, which you will perform on stage on Sept. 6 & 7!**

Full Session Price = $145.80 +gst

Costume deposit = $20
TOTAL PRICE = $165.80 +gst

*The costume deposit of $20 will go toward the final costume price. Once the session has begun the class will agree on a costume that we will order together. We keep the costume fee at a minimal price (approximately between $25-50) to make it affordable for everyone.

Meet your Teacher!

Meet Lavender
Prairie Diva Dance Instructor

Lavender is a passionate and encouraging instructor, who joined Prairie Diva in 2021. She teaches burlesque fusion dance classes for all levels of students, and also teaches private lessons for students who want choreography or coaching. She has a special soft spot for beginner students trying out dance for the first time, and wants to share the freedom that can be found in sensual movement. Lavender began her dance training focusing on ballet, and has travelled across North America for her professional training in various dance styles, both classic and commercial, which she uses to create works of all styles and genres, ranging from hip-hop to classic burlesque and almost everything in between! Also a company member of M Funk Dance Productions, you can find her performing and choreographing regularly for Prairie Diva showcases, doing burlesque, musical theatre works, and other dance routines with her fellow company members. Her classes encourage students to grow not only their technical abilities at their own pace, but also explore musicality, stage presence, and developing an artistic voice.

- I acknowledge that there are NO refunds or credits for all dance lessons. At the discretion of Prairie Diva, credit may be given toward future sessions for medical reasons only (with a Doctor’s note).
In the unlikely event that classes or showcases are cancelled by Prairie Diva, a refund for the remaining classes or credit will be offered.

Attendance Policy:*

I acknowledge the following:

- I acknowledge that I am registering for a performance class.
- I understand that attendance throughout the session and at the Sept. 6 & 7 performances is very important for both the individual and group's success.
- I am committed to attending all 6 weeks of classes. The only exceptions would be for illness or emergency situations. If I am unable to attend, I will let my instructor know in advance.
- I acknowledge that if I must miss a class, I must learn the choreography in the class missed prior to the next scheduled class, either on my own or purchase a private lesson with my instructor. I acknowledge that each week we will be learning new choreography and spend a short amount of time on reviewing previous choreography.
- I acknowledge that this is a condensed session and that if I miss 2 classes in this 6-week session, I may be exempt from performing in the showcase at the discretion of Prairie Diva.
- I am available for the tech rehearsal on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 8:00pm and for both showcases on Sept. 6 & 7 (call time is 6:45PM before doors open for the show).
