Burlesque Fusion focuses on the aspects of seduction and sensual movements, with no strip-tease and adds aspects of jazz & hip-hop dance set to upbeat and sultry pop music. Prairie Diva’s goal is to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and feel confident in their own skin. Burlesque Fusion is open to all levels, shapes and sizes of adults and is a safe space to express yourself and strut it down the dance floor!

*Beginner/Intermediate – No previous dance experience is necessary. Class is adapted to the level of the group. Medium-high intensity.

6:30 – 8:00PM

6-Week Session (1.5 hour classes)

In-Studio Location: Ted Motyka Dance Studio (460 Main St., Winnipeg, MB)

Saturday, December 28 – Prairie Diva Showcase – The Basement Speakeasy (3740 Portage Ave.)
Showtime – 8:30PM
Tech rehearsal is at 2:00PM same day at the Basement

** Learn and perfect 1 Burlesque Fusion dance routine from start to finish in 6-Weeks, which you will perform on stage on December 28! **

Full Session Price = $153.00 +gst

Costume deposit = $10
TOTAL PRICE = $163.00 +gst

*The costume deposit of $10 will go toward the final costume price. Once the session has begun the class will agree on a costume that we will order together. We keep the costume fee at a minimal price (approximately between $25-50) to make it affordable for everyone.

Meet your Teacher!

Meet Meagan
Owner of Prairie Diva/Dance Instructor

Meagan Funk started dancing when she was 4 years old. She took lessons in jazz, ballet, hip-hop and lyrical/contemporary styles in Winnipeg, MB, before eventually moving on to dance college in Toronto, ON at George Brown College. After completing college with her commercial dance certificate, Meagan landed her first professional dance role on Carnival Cruise Lines, stationed out of Texas, where she would perform nightly for sold out audiences.

Before starting M. Funk Dance Productions, Meagan worked as a professional dancer throughout Toronto: in various small dance companies, where she performed at weddings, corporate events, galas, and fundraisers; and at the Greg Frewin Theatre in Niagara Falls as a dancer/magician’s assistant. In the latter role, Meagan performed nightly in an extravagant show featuring live animals such as lions, tigers, and exotic birds and grand levitation and sawing illusions. With the magic show, she seized the opportunity to perform as the headliner at the World Magic Conference in Blackpool, England.

Meagan moved back to Winnipeg in 2014 with the plan of starting her own dance business. She began teaching women upbeat Burlesque Fusion dance classes that aimed to inspire confidence and positivity, and with that, Prairie Diva was born. Soon after she started a professional dance company of local dancers that could be hired for performances at special events in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Both companies have grown tremendously over the years. M. Funk Dance Productions currently has 11 professional dancers on their roster. Prairie Diva has expanded to multiple classes and different levels, with showcases out of both the Park Theatre and Basement Speakeasy in Winnipeg!

- I acknowledge that there are NO refunds or credits for all dance lessons. At the discretion of Prairie Diva, credit may be given toward future sessions for medical reasons only (with a Doctor’s note).
In the unlikely event that classes or showcases are cancelled by Prairie Diva, a refund for the remaining classes or credit will be offered.
Attendance Policy Consent*
I agree to the below Attendance Policy.
- I acknowledge that I am registering for a performance class.
- I understand that attendance throughout the session and at the December 28 performance is very important for both the individual and group's success.
- I am committed to attending all 6 weeks of classes. The only exceptions would be for illness or emergency situations. If I am unable to attend, I will let my instructor know in advance.
- I acknowledge that if I must miss a class, I must learn the choreography in the class missed prior to the next scheduled class, either on my own or purchase a private lesson with my instructor. I acknowledge that each week we will be learning new choreography and spend a short amount of time on reviewing previous choreography.
- I acknowledge that if I must miss a class, I may be exempted from the section of the new choreography learned on the day(s) missed.
- I am available for the tech rehearsal on show day (December 28) at 2:00pm and for the showcase in the evening (call time is 6:45 before doors open for the show).
