Introducing our first spotlight of 2019:
Krista:
“What’s not too love about dance! I love being able to expressive myself through movements.”
When did you start dancing?
I started dance at the age of 4. My parents said I was always moving and grooving as a child. One of my life long friends and I started dancing together for socialization and it just stuck!
Favourite past times/other hobbies
I enjoy being active and outdoors. I like to play baseball, soccer and golf. I enjoy spending summers posted at the cabin/beach.
My day job
Social Worker by day and dance teacher by night.
Fun/interesting fact about me
I have been teaching dance for 10 years at Maples Academy of Dance. I teach the performance team tap classes. I have been dancing for 24 years and continue to try new styles!
Goals and aspirations
In the grand scheme of things I want to work with individuals and enable them to achieve the best possible levels of personal and social well-being; and working to achieve social justice through social development and social change.
How I first heard about Prairie Diva dance classes
I danced burlesque in my early twenties and had a blast. I wanted to get back into it and found Meagan and Prairie Diva classes!
What I like about burlesque fusion dance classes
I love the sassy dance movements that inspire confidence and empowerment. The classes are a judgement free zone where women empower women. I love that Burlesque fusion is upbeat and sultry that mixes elements of jazz and hip-hop dance.
Making friends & connections
I love my dance family! I’ve made connections through Prairie Diva and even rekindled a friendship.
What I’m most looking forward to with Prairie Diva’s classes
I look forward to Prairie Diva classes because it’s ME time.
